Welcome reception for the Slovenian national team at the 11th Paralympic Games
LJUBLJANA, 6 October 2000 - Yesterday, on 5 October, the
seventeen-member national team, representing Slovenia at the 11th
Paralympic Games between 18 and 29 October, headed for Sydney. On
Sunday, 8 October, they will be welcomed at a reception in the
"Slovenian House" by Alfred Breznik, Consul General and Olympic
Attaché.
The "Slovenia and Sydney 2000" joint promotional project, carried
out during the Olympic Games by the Slovenian National Tourist
Organisation together with nine partners, was completed on 1 October;
however, the "Slovenian House" and its exhibition on Slovenia and
Slovenian Olympic achievements will remain open until 9 October. On
this occasion Ernest Jazbinsek, President of the Slovenian Sports
Federation for the Disabled, issued the following statement: "Our
disabled athletes are well prepared and capable of achieving top
results. The team's morale has been additionally boosted by the
positive response of the Slovenian public and competent institutions,
while the disabled regard the decision to present the Slovenian
national team in the Sydney-based "Slovenian House" as a special
recognition of their efforts.
