Ljubljana is dynamic European city lying halfway between the Alps and the Mediterranean. The centre of trade, capital and largest city with 300,000 inhabitants, Ljubljana has long been at the crossroads of history and commerce. It is no coincidence that the two longest thoroughfares in Ljubljana bear the names of Vienna and Trieste. Where two intersect, a rich tradition is intermingled with the lively ferment of new ideas - a city of warm and welcoming people.

Ljubljana is also a city of music, art and theatre. Among the multitude of events you should no miss are the International Summer Festival, Jazz Festivals, exhibitions, concerts, operas, plays, puppet theatre productions, and folk preformances.

Ljubljana's castle overlooks the Old Town, full of narrow cobblestone streets, galleries and boutiqu-es, while the more modern part of the city begins across the Ljubljanica river. Throughout this rather compact center one can find magnificent examples of Baroque, Renaissance, and especially Art Nouveau architecture and design that effectively complement the business center of a city that has grown three times larger since the 1940's.
