Slovene philharmonic building in Ljubljana
This is among the oldest music societies in the world, having been founded in 1701. The Society boasted honorary members such as Beethoven, Paganini and Brahms. Mahler also lived in Ljubljana (1881/82) and worked here as a conductor. Today its orchestra is the mainstay of musical life in the country.
